Plato’s writings contain many passages that concern education. His dialogues use Socrates to raise questions about the nature of learning and the values inherent in the educational process. His writings often stress the importance of experience in the learning process but this has not silenced criticism from experiential educators. For many his views are too simplistic, and are therefore dangerous because they lead to the belief that knowing is found only in ideal mental constructs.
